today is winona ryder's b-day...I couldn't help but post this photo of her in one of my favorite christian dior sweaters from a vogue editorial in 1999. winona has always been so original in her style by never working with a stylist and wearing vintage before it even had a name. a look all her own...if only more actresses were like this.

while on vacation, I randomly found a beautiful black parasol...something I have been wanting in my closet for years. while I love to wear a big hat for sun protection, there is something very elegant and royal about a parasol as seen in this photo. all I need now, is a rochas tiered brocade dress to go with.

the biba mystique

I am a bit inspired by the vamp-look of the london biba store of the 60's and 70's. the biba girl wore chiffon dresses, head scarves and dark make-up. in the 90's, the biba look made a comeback. fashion designers like anna sui and dolce & gabbana were definetly inspired by that time in fashion...I think its time to bring it back.

I am a bit behind on my spring 2010 fashion shows, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that singer-songwriter róisín murphy performed at the viktor and rolf show. I've admired her electronic sound and avant-garde style for a couple of years now, but I'm glad the fashion world is finally starting to recognize her.

a couple of years back, my sister and I were skimming through the pages of vogue and felt inspired by the look of grace coddington. we both love persian cats, so we had no other choice but to do an homage to grace.

my favorite penn

with the passing of irving penn I started to think about some of his best photos. It is too difficult to narrow it down to a single photo, but one that came to mind was an editorial he did of one of my favortie balenciaga collections back in 2006. I think a fitting choice, since penn was considered the cristóbal balenciaga of photography.

It is such a strange coincidence that I happened to find that same lanvin dress, that she is wearing in the bottom right corner at a vintage store one day. I guess the best fashion finds come when you are not looking!
